What is BT Business Broadband Pro?
Pro is the third of BT's core business broadband plans, above Essential and Enhanced. It is for businesses where Wi-Fi coverage, control over who connects and fast fault fixing all matter, without moving to a separately managed security appliance.
Pro is available on Full Fibre (FTTP) and Standard Fibre (SOGEA) only. BT does not sell Pro on copper broadband. On Standard Fibre, Pro is the only plan that comes with Smart Hub 3; Essential and Enhanced on Standard Fibre use Smart Hub 2.
What Pro includes
You get everything in Essential and Enhanced: Content Controls and Web Protect, guest Wi-Fi, unlimited data, BT's Minimum Speed Guarantee, Hybrid Backup, one static IP, Enhanced IT Support and an Expert Setup option. Pro then adds:
- Smart Hub 3: BT's Wi-Fi 6 business hub, which BT says connects over 100 devices. It comes with Pro on both Full Fibre and Standard Fibre.
- Complete Wi-Fi Plus: Wi-Fi discs that work with Smart Hub 3 to make one network across the premises, so people do not switch networks as they move around. BT backs it with a coverage guarantee (below).
- Prompt Care: BT's faster fault-fix level. Faults reported before 9pm Monday to Saturday are targeted for a fix by the end of the next working day, including Saturdays, with compensation under BT's Customer Service Compensation Scheme if BT misses the target.
- Wi-Fi Security Controls: device-level security on Smart Hub 3, managed in the BT Business app. Pro is the only plan that has it.

Wi-Fi Security Controls on Pro
Wi-Fi Security Controls has been part of Pro since 2024. It works on Smart Hub 3 and is set up and managed in the BT Business app. BT's features include:
- Device identification, so you can see what is connected rather than a list of unnamed addresses
- Device access control, including approving new devices before they can join the network
- Groups and a default profile, so different sets of devices get different rules
- Scheduled blocks and an instant pause: BT's "block access now" options run for an hour, two hours, until the morning or a custom time
- Content filtering at light, moderate, strict or custom levels, plus blocks on named websites
- Device threat protection against malware and phishing sites
- A dashboard with usage analytics
Two limits to know: it filters websites, not apps, so it cannot block an app on a phone; and you can opt out of it when the Pro order is placed. Our Wi-Fi Security Controls page compares it with Content Controls and Web Protect, and our broadband security guide sets out the security options across all BT plans.
Complete Wi-Fi Plus and BT's coverage guarantee
Complete Wi-Fi Plus is BT's answer to Wi-Fi that drops out in back offices, upstairs rooms or behind thick walls. The discs pair with Smart Hub 3 to make one network with one name and password.
BT's guarantee for Complete Wi-Fi Plus, as set out in its terms:
- It covers the main building at your site, not outbuildings or other sites, and not broadband faults
- It runs for 6 months from the service start date
- If the signal is not strong enough, BT may send up to five extra discs, and with two or more discs you can ask for a BT engineer visit to improve performance
- If coverage still falls short, a Pro customer can end the broadband contract under the guarantee and return the discs
More on Complete Wi-Fi Plus, and on getting good coverage generally in our business Wi-Fi guide. If you would rather have Cisco Meraki access points managed by BT, see Ultra Broadband Wi-Fi; BT includes up to three access points with Ultra and aims it at smaller premises, so multi-floor or multi-building sites need checking first.
Is BT Business Broadband Pro the right fit for you?
We will check it against your systems and requirements and recommend the right option.
Who Pro suits
Pro is worth a look if several of these apply:
- Your premises has more than one floor, thick walls or rooms the hub does not reach
- Staff, guests and business devices share the building, and you want control over which devices join
- A fault fixed in two working days is too slow, and next-working-day fixing (including Saturdays) is worth having as standard
- You also want 4G backup and a static IP, which Pro keeps from Enhanced
- You are on Standard Fibre and want Smart Hub 3 without waiting for Full Fibre
Pro is not for copper-only addresses. It is also not the plan if you want a next-generation firewall, intrusion prevention and managed access points: that is BT Ultra Broadband. And if you need a Digital Line with your broadband, Pro can be bundled with one; see broadband and phone.
Setting up Pro
Pro has more to set up than the other plans, and most of it happens in the BT Business app. BT's activation steps for Wi-Fi Security Controls run roughly like this:
- Install the latest BT Business app from the App Store or Google Play and log in with your BT Business account, or register for one.
- Add the new Smart Hub 3. The app shows a banner for a newly added hub; you scan the QR code on the hub or enter its details from the label underneath.
- Name the network and change the Wi-Fi password when the app asks you to.
- Turn on Wi-Fi Security Controls, then review the devices it has identified and put them into groups.
- Place the Complete Wi-Fi Plus discs roughly halfway between the hub and each area with poor coverage, as BT advises, then use the app to check signal strength in the rooms that were weak before.
If you would rather have an engineer do the hub, discs and devices, ask about an Expert Setup visit when you order. Inclusion on Pro is confirmed at quote, and the service is available in mainland UK only.
A tip from our side: decide your device groups before the install. A typical small office might have staff laptops and phones, shared printers and screens, and anything that should only work in business hours. Agreeing those groups up front makes the first week much easier.
